What can a person do to ruin a DNA test, where they swab the inside of your mouth?

My granddaughter's dad was required to take a DNA swab when he was being sued for child support by the state.

We all went for the test %26amp; I witnessed the proceedure. However, when the results came back it was determined that not enough "viable"DNA was found to determine paternity %26amp; another was to be taken.

Alot of people told me he could have done several things to ruin the sample while still in his mouth.

He has been in prison %26amp; is knowlegable about many things like this. What can a person do to ruin a DNA test, where they swab the inside of your mouth?
a swab can easily get contaminated... but a proper DNA extraction from blood won't cheat.

Blood test is better. Take him to a hospital or a reputable blood test lab and see them draw the blood yourself. What can a person do to ruin a DNA test, where they swab the inside of your mouth?
there's a good chance he had someone else's DNA in his mouth. either by a kiss, consumption, or other means that i won't mention here. What can a person do to ruin a DNA test, where they swab the inside of your mouth?
someone other than him could have touched the swab after it touched his mouth, and their skin cells could have contaminated it. but the other answer is right too.
dna. is done by both swab . as well blood tests now . my opion?
